Treat.Me is a location-based food and meetup platform that helps users create, join, coordinate, and complete real-world food events at participating merchants. This Privacy Policy explains how Treat.Me collects, uses, shares, stores, protects, and deletes personal information when you use our website, mobile application, event features, payment flows, messaging tools, verification tools, customer support, and related services.
This Privacy Policy is written for users of the Treat.Me platform, including:
- Hosts, who pay for or sponsor an event;
- Guests, who participate in or benefit from an event;
- Event initiators, who create an event;
- Event participants, who bid on, accept, claim, or attend an event; and
- Website visitors who browse Treat.Me pages, contact us, or submit forms.
When this Privacy Policy uses the words “Treat.Me,” “we,” “us,” or “our,” it refers to the Treat.Me platform and the entity operating the Treat.Me services. When it uses “you” or “your,” it refers to the person using the platform.
This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions, User Safety Guidelines, Cancellation Policy, and any payment or merchant-specific terms that apply to your use of Treat.Me.
2. Summary of Our Privacy Practices
This summary is provided for convenience. The full Privacy Policy below controls if there is any conflict.
- We collect information needed to operate Treat.Me, including account details, profile information, location information, event activity, payment-related information, messages, verification activity, device data, and support communications.
- Treat.Me uses location information to show nearby places, coordinate meetups, support ETA-based attendance flows, help users find merchants, and support safety, fraud-prevention, and dispute-review processes.
- We use third-party service providers for payments, maps, hosting, notifications, security, analytics, fraud prevention, and customer support.
- We do not store full credit or debit card numbers on our servers. Payment processing is handled by Stripe and related payment infrastructure.
- We do not sell your personal information in the traditional sense.
- We do not use the content of private user messages for advertising.
- We do not knowingly allow users under 18 to create Treat.Me user accounts.
- You may request access, correction, deletion, or other privacy choices by contacting us at support@treat.me.
- Some information must be retained for legal, tax, payment, safety, fraud-prevention, dispute, audit, or platform-integrity reasons.
3. Where This Privacy Policy Applies
This Privacy Policy applies when you use or interact with:
- The Treat.Me mobile user application;
- The Treat.Me website;
- Treat.Me event creation, bidding, invite, claim, matching, verification, and completion flows;
- In-app messaging, notifications, support, and reporting tools;
- Treat.Me payment, cancellation, refund, fee, and dispute-related experiences;
- Treat.Me emails, push notifications, SMS messages, or other communications;
- Forms on our website, including contact, merchant-interest, waitlist, support, or security forms; and
- Any other Treat.Me user-facing product or service that links to this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy does not control the privacy practices of third-party websites, payment providers, merchants, app stores, device manufacturers, operating systems, map providers, or other external services that Treat.Me does not own or control. Their own privacy policies apply to their services.
4. Roles, Events, and Privacy Context
Treat.Me events involve multiple parties. Understanding these roles helps explain why certain information may be collected or shown.
4.1 Host
A Host is the person paying for the event. Host information may be used for payment authorization, merchant verification, safety, dispute review, and event coordination.
4.2 Guest
A Guest is the person participating in or benefiting from the event. Guest information may be used for matching, event coordination, mutual verification, safety, dispute review, and merchant fulfillment.
4.3 Merchant
A Merchant is the restaurant or establishment servicing the order. Merchants may receive event, order, verification, and limited user information needed to fulfill the event.
4.4 Initiator and Participant
An Initiator is the person who creates the event. A Participant is the person who attends or joins the event. Depending on the event type, the Host may be the initiator or participant, and the Guest may be the initiator or participant.
4.5 Event Lifecycle Data
Treat.Me may collect data at different event stages, including event creation, bidding, acceptance, merchant approval, attendance confirmation, ETA submission, travel coordination, mutual verification, merchant verification, fulfillment, cancellation, dispute, and completion.
5. Information We Collect
We collect information in several ways: information you provide, information generated by your use of Treat.Me, information from your device, information from payment and service providers, and information from merchants or other users when needed to operate the platform.
5.1 Account Information
We may collect:
- Name;
- Username or display name;
- Email address;
- Phone number;
- Password or authentication credentials, where applicable;
- Account status;
- Login history;
- App session information;
- Account settings;
- Notification preferences;
- Device sessions associated with your account;
- Age confirmation or date of birth, where required;
- Profile creation and update timestamps; and
- Other information needed to create, secure, and maintain your account.
5.2 Profile Information
You may provide profile information such as:
- Profile photo or avatar;
- Short bio or profile description;
- Preferences you choose to add;
- Public-facing profile details;
- Ratings, reviews, or reputation indicators;
- Account badges, verification indicators, or safety-related labels; and
- Other optional information you choose to include.
Please do not include sensitive personal information in your profile unless the app specifically asks for it and it is required for a legitimate Treat.Me feature.

When you create, join, bid on, claim, accept, attend, cancel, or complete an event, we may collect:
- Event type;
- Event visibility;
- Event title or description;
- Merchant or place selected;
- Selected items, order details, or order preferences;
- Budget or item limits, where applicable;
- Event creation time;
- Event start, expiration, acceptance, cancellation, and completion times;
- Bid details;
- Invite-link activity;
- Match status;
- Participant status;
- Attendance confirmation;
- ETA information;
- Arrival or presence signals;
- Verification attempts;
- Verification outcomes;
- Merchant acceptance or decline;
- Merchant fulfillment status;
- Completion status;
- Cancellation stage and reason;
- No-show or late status;
- Dispute-related notes; and
- Internal audit records tied to the event.
5.4 Location Information
Treat.Me is a location-based service. We may collect, process, and use location information to operate essential features.
Depending on your device settings, app permissions, and the feature being used, location information may include:
- Approximate location;
- Precise location, when enabled and required for an active feature;
- Location at app launch or app foreground use;
- Location during active event coordination;
- Distance from a selected merchant or meeting place;
- ETA-related location signals;
- Arrival or proximity signals;
- Map interactions;
- Location search terms;
- Pickup, meetup, or merchant coordinates;
- City, region, or general area derived from location; and
- Location metadata needed for safety, fraud prevention, or dispute review.
We may use location information to:
- Show nearby restaurants, merchants, or events;
- Support Lounge or area-based discovery features;
- Help users coordinate travel to a merchant;
- Support ETA, late, and no-show logic;
- Help users find each other at a public merchant location;
- Support merchant verification and order handoff;
- Detect suspicious, unsafe, or abusive activity;
- Review cancellations, disputes, or policy violations; and
- Improve maps, routing, reliability, and user experience.
You can disable location permissions in your device settings. If you do, some Treat.Me features may not work correctly, including nearby discovery, active meetup coordination, ETA-based attendance, proximity verification, and certain safety features.
5.5 Payment, Fee, Refund, and Settlement Information
Treat.Me uses payment service providers, including Stripe, to support payments, authorization, captures, refunds, application fees, merchant payouts, and dispute handling.
We may collect and process payment-related information such as:
- Stripe customer ID;
- Stripe payment method reference or tokenized payment identifier;
- Last four digits and card brand, where provided by the payment processor;
- Payment authorization status;
- Payment intent or charge identifiers;
- Refund identifiers;
- Application fee identifiers;
- Connected-account identifiers for merchants;
- Transaction amount;
- Currency;
- Taxes, fees, cancellation charges, and refund amounts;
- Host, Guest, Merchant, and Treat.Me liability records;
- Payment status;
- Receipt and invoice metadata;
- Fraud, chargeback, or dispute information;
- Payment failure reason codes;
- Payment audit metadata, such as event ID, transaction ID, settlement ID, and correlation ID; and
- Information needed to comply with legal, tax, accounting, anti-fraud, and payment-network obligations.
Treat.Me does not store full credit card numbers or full bank-account numbers on our servers. Payment providers may collect and process payment information directly under their own privacy policies and terms.
5.6 Messages and Communications
Treat.Me may provide in-app messaging or communication features between event parties. We may collect:
- Message content;
- Message sender and recipient;
- Message timestamps;
- Delivery and read status, where supported;
- Attachments, images, or media, if supported;
- Event or transaction association;
- Abuse reports tied to messages; and
- Moderation or safety-review metadata.
Messages may be retained for the duration of an active event and for a limited period after the event if needed for safety, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, legal compliance, audit, or enforcement. We may remove or anonymize messages when they are no longer needed for these purposes.
5.7 Verification Information
Treat.Me may use verification steps to support safer event completion. We may collect:
- QR-code scan attempts;
- Device-authentication completion status, where used;
- Verification success, failure, or skip status;
- Merchant verification code status;
- Attempt counts;
- Verification timestamps;
- Device and session identifiers associated with verification;
- Fault or policy classification tied to failed verification; and
- Related audit logs.
Treat.Me does not need to receive your biometric template, face image used by your device for Face ID, fingerprint template, or device passcode when you use device authentication. Device authentication is generally handled by your device or operating system.
5.8 Merchant and Order Information
When you interact with a merchant through Treat.Me, we may collect:
- Merchant selected;
- Place or restaurant details;
- Menu items selected;
- Item options, modifiers, quantities, and notes;
- Order status;
- Merchant acceptance or decline;
- Merchant verification status;
- Fulfillment status;
- Merchant completion status;
- Merchant-reported issue, delay, cancellation, or incident;
- Merchant support communications; and
- Information needed for refunds, cancellations, disputes, or safety review.
5.9 Device, App, Browser, and Technical Information
We may automatically collect technical information such as:
- Device type;
- Device model;
- Operating system;
- App version;
- Browser type;
- IP address;
- Mobile carrier or network type;
- Language settings;
- Time zone;

- Push notification token;

You can manage notification permissions through your device settings and, where available, Treat.Me app settings.
5.11 Support, Reports, and Safety Communications
If you contact support or report a user, merchant, event, payment issue, or safety concern, we may collect:

- Support message content;
- Report category and description;
- Screenshots or attachments you provide;
- Event, transaction, payment, or merchant identifiers;
- Account, device, and session information;
- Internal support notes;
- Resolution status;
- Enforcement actions; and
- Follow-up communications.
5.12 Website Forms and Contact Information
When you use website forms, including contact, support, merchant-interest, waitlist, beta, or security forms, we may collect:

- Bot-prevention or captcha verification data; and

5.14 Cloudflare Turnstile and Bot Prevention
We may use Cloudflare Turnstile or similar bot-prevention and security tools to protect account registration, login, password reset, contact forms, support forms, merchant-interest forms, waitlist forms, and other sensitive or public-facing workflows.
These tools may process technical and interaction-related information, such as IP address, device and browser information, network information, page or form interaction signals, timestamps, and security challenge results. We use this information to help determine whether activity appears legitimate, automated, abusive, fraudulent, or unsafe.
Turnstile may operate in a managed, non-interactive, or invisible mode. If invisible mode is used, the challenge may run in the background without displaying a visible checkbox or challenge to you. Cloudflare processes Turnstile information under its own applicable terms, privacy policy, and Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
5.15 Information From Other Users, Merchants, or Third Parties
We may receive information about you from:
- Other Treat.Me users, such as reports, ratings, reviews, messages, or dispute statements;
- Merchants, such as order status, verification results, incident reports, or fulfillment updates;
- Payment processors, such as payment, refund, chargeback, or risk information;
- Identity, fraud, security, analytics, or support vendors;
- App stores or device platforms;
- Publicly available sources; and
- Law enforcement, regulators, courts, or legal representatives, when legally required or appropriate.
6. Sensitive Information
Treat.Me does not require you to provide sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for a specific feature, legal obligation, safety matter, or support request.
Sensitive information may include:
- Precise location during active event coordination;
- Payment-related information;
- Government-issued identification, if ever required for verification or compliance;
- Information you include in support tickets, reports, messages, or profile content;
- Information relating to safety incidents, disputes, or law-enforcement requests; and
- Other information that may be considered sensitive under applicable law.
Please avoid sharing unnecessary sensitive information through profiles, public content, event descriptions, messages, or support tickets.
7. How We Use Information
We use personal information for the purposes described below.
7.1 To Provide and Operate Treat.Me
We use information to:
- Create and maintain accounts;
- Authenticate users;
- Display profiles;
- Show nearby merchants and events;
- Enable event creation;
- Enable bidding, invite claims, matching, and acceptance;
- Send events to merchants;
- Coordinate ETA, arrival, and meetup flows;
- Support mutual verification;
- Support merchant verification;
- Process orders and completion;
- Send notifications and service messages;
- Provide customer support; and
- Maintain platform availability and reliability.
7.2 To Process Payments and Transactions
We use information to:
- Authorize and process payments;
- Support Stripe customer and payment method references;
- Calculate taxes, service fees, merchant fees, cancellation fees, refunds, and settlement amounts;
- Support merchant payouts;
- Provide receipts and transaction records;
- Handle chargebacks, disputes, and payment failures;
- Detect suspicious or fraudulent payment activity;
- Maintain tax, accounting, and audit records; and
- Enforce payment-related terms and policies.
7.3 To Support Safety and Trust
We use information to:
- Help verify event attendance;
- Support QR-code or code-based verification;
- Determine whether a user may be late or a no-show;
- Review cancellations and disputes;
- Investigate reports of unsafe, fraudulent, or abusive activity;
- Prevent harassment, scams, impersonation, or platform manipulation;
- Enforce our Terms and Safety Guidelines;
- Suspend, restrict, or remove accounts where appropriate;
- Communicate safety information; and
- Protect users, merchants, Treat.Me, and the public.
7.4 To Personalize and Improve the User Experience

- Recommend nearby merchants or events;
- Remember preferences;
- Improve search and discovery;
- Improve maps, navigation, and location-based features;
- Improve event workflows;
- Improve notification timing and relevance;
- Understand which features are useful;
- Diagnose crashes or errors; and

7.5 To Communicate With You

- Payment and receipt messages;

9. Information We Do Not Sell
Treat.Me does not sell personal information in the traditional sense of exchanging personal information for money.
Some privacy laws define “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” broadly. If Treat.Me later uses advertising or tracking technologies that fall under these definitions, we will provide appropriate notices and choices as required by law.
Treat.Me does not use private in-app message content for third-party advertising.
10. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Treat.Me, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud, support safety, and maintain business records.
Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and the reason it is used.
10.1 Account Information
Account information is generally retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize personal information unless retention is needed for legal, tax, payment, fraud-prevention, safety, dispute, enforcement, or audit purposes.
10.2 Event and Transaction Records
Event, order, payment, fee, refund, cancellation, settlement, and dispute records may be retained for longer periods because they may be needed for:
- Receipts;
- Refunds;
- Chargebacks;
- Tax records;
- Accounting;
- Merchant payout records;
- Safety investigations;
- Dispute resolution;
- Fraud prevention;
- Legal compliance; and
- Audit logs.
10.3 Location Information
Location information may be retained while needed to provide location-based services, support active events, investigate safety issues, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and maintain audit records. We may store precise location for shorter periods where possible and retain derived, approximate, or event-related records when needed for legitimate business, safety, legal, or audit purposes.
10.4 Messages
Messages may be retained during the active event and for a limited period after the event. Messages connected to reports, disputes, fraud, safety incidents, legal matters, or enforcement actions may be retained longer.
10.5 Support Records
Support communications and reports may be retained to resolve your request, maintain service quality, detect repeated abuse, enforce policies, and comply with legal obligations.
10.6 Device, Log, and Security Records
Technical logs, security records, crash reports, and diagnostic data may be retained for limited periods unless longer retention is needed for security, fraud prevention, debugging, legal compliance, or audit purposes.
10.7 Anonymized and Aggregated Information
We may retain information that has been anonymized, de-identified, or aggregated so it can no longer reasonably identify you. We may use this information for analytics, reporting, research, product improvement, and business purposes.
11. Account Deletion and Data Deletion
You may request account deletion by contacting support@treat.me or using any account-deletion feature available in the app.
When you request deletion, we will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize personal information associated with your account, subject to the limits below.
We may retain information if necessary to:
- Complete pending transactions;
- Process refunds, chargebacks, or disputes;
- Maintain tax, accounting, and payment records;
- Investigate fraud, abuse, safety incidents, or policy violations;
- Enforce our Terms and policies;
- Protect legal rights;
- Comply with applicable law;
- Prevent banned users from immediately rejoining under a new account;
- Maintain security logs; or
- Preserve records required by merchants, payment providers, or regulators.
Deletion may not remove information already provided to other users, merchants, payment providers, app stores, or third parties, where those parties independently control the information or where retention is legally required.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have some or all of the rights listed below.

You may request a copy of personal information we maintain about you.
12.2 Correction
You may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
12.3 Deletion
You may request deletion of personal information, subject to legal and operational exceptions.

12.6 Withdrawal of Consent
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.

You can control location permissions through your device settings. Disabling location may limit Treat.Me features that depend on nearby discovery, ETA, meetup coordination, arrival detection, or safety review.
12.10 Cookie Controls
You can manage cookies through browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect login, forms, personalization, analytics, or security features.

13. Regional Privacy Notices

Residents of certain U.S. states may have rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a copy of, or opt out of certain uses of personal information. If these rights apply to you, you may submit a request by contacting support@treat.me.
Treat.Me does not knowingly sell personal information in exchange for money. If we engage in activities that applicable law treats as a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising, we will provide required notices and opt-out methods.

If you are a California resident, you may have rights under California privacy law, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of certain sharing or selling of personal information.

No system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and promptly notifying us of suspected unauthorized access.
15. Children and Age Restrictions
Treat.Me is intended for adults. Users must be at least 18 years old to create a Treat.Me account or use Treat.Me event features.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

16. Public Content, Reviews, and Ratings
Treat.Me may allow users to post ratings, reviews, profile details, or other content visible to other users, merchants, or the public.
Please do not include sensitive personal information, private contact information, financial information, addresses, or information about other people in public content.
We may remove content that violates our Terms, Safety Guidelines, merchant policies, or applicable law.
17. Safety Reports, Disputes, and Enforcement Records
Treat.Me may maintain records related to reports, disputes, cancellations, no-shows, verification failures, fraud, harassment, scams, abuse, or safety incidents.
These records may include:
- Reporter and reported-user information;
- Event and transaction details;
- Message history relevant to the report;
- Location, ETA, and proximity signals relevant to the incident;
- Verification attempts and outcomes;
- Merchant statements or evidence;
- Support notes;
- Decision records;
- Enforcement actions; and
- Appeal or follow-up communications.

18. Third-Party Services
Treat.Me may integrate with third-party services. These services may collect or process information under their own privacy policies.
Examples may include:
- Stripe for payments, payment methods, payment authorization, refunds, merchant connected accounts, fraud prevention, and related financial services;
- Mapbox or other mapping providers for maps, location search, distance, routing, and related location features;
- Firebase Cloud Messaging or similar services for push notifications;
- Cloudflare Turnstile or similar services for bot prevention, form protection, login protection, signup protection, and abuse prevention. Cloudflare may process Turnstile information under its own privacy policy and Turnstile Privacy Addendum;
- Cloud hosting, logging, database, analytics, support, email, SMS, and security providers;
- Apple App Store, Google Play, and device operating systems; and
- Merchants and merchant systems involved in order fulfillment.

19. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Processing
Treat.Me may use automated systems to support security, fraud prevention, matching quality, abuse detection, event integrity, service reliability, and support triage.
We do not use private user messages for third-party advertising. We do not intentionally sell private user messages to external AI-training vendors.
If Treat.Me later uses user data for materially different automated processing, personalization, or AI-based features, we will update this Privacy Policy or provide additional notice where required.
20. Communications From Treat.Me
Treat.Me may contact you by email, push notification, SMS, in-app message, or other available channels.

Transactional messages may include:

You may not be able to opt out of essential transactional messages while maintaining an active account.

Treat.Me and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. When required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, which may include contractual protections, vendor commitments, or other lawful transfer mechanisms.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If we make material changes, we may notify you by:

- Updating the effective date;

- Sending an in-app notice;
- Sending a push notification; or
