There is nothing worse than having your hair blown out and it falling flat in under a day. We have all been there and it’s a major mood changer. Luckily, there are ways to extend the time you have that extra bounce in your barnet long after you leave the salon.

Get A Deep Clean
The key to a long-lasting look is starting with really clean hair. Once you get your butt in the chair, make sure that your stylist gets a good lather on so that your locks are rid of any dirt or product build up that might weigh it down and make it dull-looking. Stick to just a heat protectant that will prevent damage to your hair from during your blow out.
Yes, they smell good, and they might make your hair look ultra shiny in the hours immediately following your blow out, but we recommend that you say no to extra serums and sprays during your blowout. They are likely to add extra weight, and oils to your hair that will reduce the longevity of your do.
Look, we know your hair looks and feels amazing post blow out. But you have to resist the urge to touch it. Every time your hands come into contact with your hair you transfer oils and pollutants that will make your hair greasy and limp much, MUCH quicker. So just don’t, m’kay?
I don’t know about you but i regularly wake up looking like I have been dragged through a bush backwards, no matter what kind of state my hair was in before I got into bed. This is a devastating situation if you have just had a blowout. To prevent bedhead and protect your locks while you sleep, try switching your pillowcase to a satin one which will create less friction to mess up your do. Wrapping your hair in a silk scarf will have the same effect. If your blowout involved curls, loosely wind your curls into a low bun and fix with a hair pin.
Resist the urge to blast your head with dry shampoo at the first sign of volume loss. Instead, when your blowout begins to fall flat on day 2 you can revive your hair with a little root boost using just a light hair spray. Tip your head upside down and quickly spritz your roots in short sharp bursts. Then flip your head back over and work your fingers into your hair at the roots to perk up the volume.
Day three is when you can bust out the can of your trusty dry shampoo. But try not to overdo it as this can actually make your hair look dull and lackluster. Split your hair into sections around your parting and spritz directly onto your roots from 3-4 inches away. Leave in place for a minute or so and then work the product into your hair using your fingertips. Try to avoid brushing your hair and this loosens the product and reduces its long-term effectiveness.
Post Gym Routine
We know your aggressive Soul Cycle routine can wreak havoc on your hair, but there are even ways to revive your sweaty head mess following a workout. Firstly, try spraying your roots with a little extra dry shampoo before you work out. This will help absorb dirt and extra oils during your sweat session. Then pull your hair back into a tight bun while you exercise. Post-workout, protect your hair from excess water when you shower by covering it with a terry cloth lined shower cap like this one
from Klorane. Release your hair from its bun post shower and blow-dry along your hairline and at the roots with you head tipped upside down to boost volume. If there is still excess grease, blast with a small amount of dry shampoo at the roots.
Embrace The Dirty
After a 3 or 4 days, most of us are itching to give our hair a good wash but this is when you need to just suck it up and embrace the dirty. Use this opportunity to try out a different style, such as a slicked back ponytail. Or try adding some extra texture to your hair with a sea salt spray and rock some beachy waves. This can extend the life of your blow out at least another day or two.
