Hair Bows Are Back! And We Love Them

I have spent years looking at pictures of my sister and I as children – in our offensively matching Disney themed outfits, matching neon fanny packs and identical side partings complete with colorful bows – and tried desperately to fight the overwhelming cringing feeling that sweeps over me.
Wow Mom, really? Were you high?

The matching outfits I can kinda understand. It was, apparently, a tactic to stop the two of us fighting over what to wear. Largely because there was only 16 months separating us age wise, and getting two girls that close in age dressed was a battle that even my mother wasn’t capable of winning.

But the bow thing always stymied me. Why, oh, why adorn us with these weird clip in do-dahs?

I am of the opinion that bows should be reserved solely for home decor.

Well I was, until last night when Victoria’s Secret mega-model Adriana Lima went cruising down the red carpet with her hair fashioned into the sleeked looking hair bow my eyes have ever feasted upon. Girlfriend looked ridic.

And it got me thinking that if Adriana Lima, one of the World’s most beautiful women, thought rocking a hair bow was cool, then maybe I could get onboard. That I needed to get onboard.

So after several hours of obsessive Pinterest and Instagram research I found that my friend Adriana and I are not alone. Women across the globe have been secretly embracing this hair trend behind my back.
